Dad Gets Cochlear Implant Tattoo to Prove His Love for Her Daughter

Charlotte Campbell, six years of age, has two cochlear implants to help her hearing. Charlotte came from a family who had hearing problems. Charlotte’s mom had also a cochlear implant and her brother, Lewis, wears hearing aids. Charlotte needed two implants, the first when she was four.

Charlotte's father, Alistair Campbell, got a cochlear tattoo to prove his love for her. “My hair can grow back,” he said.

Charlotte thought the tattoo was “cool,” though she had not grasped the significance of the tattoo just yet.

Alistair says the tattoo, which took about 45 minutes, involved “a little bit of pain but nothing I couldn’t handle.”

“The reaction have been overwhelming, mostly positive. Some negative comments came up, they're not troubling me, we're doing what's best for our daughter and family.”
