Today is the commemoration of Andres Bonifacio's birthday which is widely known here in the Philippines as Bonifacio Day. Today is one of the most special birth anniversaries of Bonifacio because this year, it's his 150th birthday.
Andres Bonifacio is one of the greatest Philippine heroes and called as "the father of the Philippine Revolution". He started a secret revolutionary movement called "Katipunan" in 1982 against Spanish colonizers. Since he was the leader of a military and revolutionary government, he is believed to be the first president of the Philippine Republic.
Andrés Bonifacio is a very important person in the Philippine history hence his birthday became a national public holiday.
